Probiotics are not all treated equally

It is no secret that probiotics are an integral part of healing and health maintenance for every body! The variety of strains and choices can sometimes confuse the naïve or “unprofessed vitamin snob”. Probiotics are NOT all the same! As of recent, researchers are taking quite an interest in probiotic strains and their effects on human microbiome and ultimately health. In recent years there has been a surge in the study of specific strain probiotics, the human microbiota, and other related applications. The World Health Organization defines probiotics as “live organisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit to the host”. Probiotics can kill pathogens by positively stimulating the immune system, balancing the gut microbes by secreting or inhibiting certain chemokines and supporting the inhibition of pathogens. Check out this list to see which specific strains of probiotics can treat conditions.
