My practice Root Cause based medicine as a formally trained Naturopath (& APRN) I believe in the tenets of naturopathy:
-
First Do No Harm- Core to all medical practice is the desire to help the human form and condition. The approach to care utilizes the most natural, least invasive and least toxic therapies.
-
The Healing Power of Nature- there is a huge value in the natural world in assisting the healing process. Naturopathy assists to incorporate a healthy natural environment as foundational to human health. Naturopathic doctors recognize and harness the body’s inherent wisdom to heal itself in order to guide patients to wellness and total health.
-
Identify and Treat the Causes-there is huge benefit in identifying the underlying causes of illness and removing obstacles to cure to achieve total health.
-
Doctor as Teacher- Naturopathic doctors elevate patient health literacy. Physicians believe that it is the patient who drive the care, and assisting patients have a better understanding of what it takes to be and stay well. Through education and a trust-based relationship, patients better understand the steps they need to take to achieve and maintain health.
-
Treat the Whole Person- Naturopathic doctors understand the interconnectedness of the body, the environment and lifestyle on total health. It is only through this whole-person-based approach that health can be restored and balanced.
-
Prevention- Naturopathic medicine affirms that it is better to prevent illness and suffering whenever possible.
My practice is mostly virtual with options for in person visits at 2 different locations. I use a detailed intake, asking about sleep, exercise, stress and other factors of epigenetics that contribute to health or illness. I often recommend highly advanced diagnostic testing that includes but is not limited to assessments of unique genetic profiles, microbiome assessments, advanced lipid testing, inflammation markers, toxin levels, and much more.

I prefer to focus on nature as a cure but may use pharmaceutical treatments as necessary to assist my patients in reaching their healing goals. First Appointments are typically up to an hour, the include a detailed discussion of health concerns, goals for healing obstacles to cure and lifestyle choices. Lab or functional medicine testing may be ordered, this includes then analysis of a variety of other body fluids. We will discuss practical recommendations such as turning off screens an hour before bed or a glass of lemon water to complex healing protocols that include multiple recommendations. Healing takes time and effort. Each visit is always concluded with dietary recommendations to accelerate healing.
